Niels Bohr Institute for Astronomy, Physics and Geophysics


The Niels Bohr Institute for Astronomy, Physics and Geophysics is part of the Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen. It was founded 1 January 1993. The institute is governed by a director together with a board.

The Niels Bohr Insitute is responsible for all the teaching of physics at the University of Copenhagen.

The four main departments of the Institute are the Astronomical Observatory, the Department of Geophysics, the Niels Bohr Institute and the Ørsted Laboratory. Most experimental work takes place at CERN, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and DESY. The main areas of research are:
