Nick Sakiewicz (born January 14, 1961) is the General Manager of the MetroStars of Major League Soccer.
Sakiewicz became the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Mutiny in 1996, and was named MLS Executive of the Year in 1999. On the heels of that success, he was hired to replace Charlie Stillitano as the MetroStars' GM, and was promptly named MLS Executive of the Year in 2000 as well.
Interestingly, Sakiewicz claims in his official bio that he played for FC Nantes of France and Belenenses of Portugal in the 1980s, neither of which is true. And his aparent success in Tampa Bay went nowhere; two years after Sakiewicz was gone, the team folded, and he is forever blamed by Tampa fans for ruining the franchise. His tenure with the MetroStars has been marred by wrestling New Jersey politicians about soccer-specific stadium construction, and increasing fan apathy.
