New York-Presbyterian Hospital

New York-Presbyterian Hospital is a prominent university hospital in New York City, composed of two medical centers, Columbia University Medical Center and New York Weill Cornell Medical Center , each affiliated with an Ivy League University.

New York-Presbyterian Hospital was formed in 1997 with the merger of The New York Hospital and The Presbyterian Hospital.

The New York Hospital had been founded in 1771 by a Royal Charter granted by King George III of England, and was the second oldest hospital in America. The Presbyterian Hospital was founded in 1868 by James Lenox, a New York philanthropist.
