Mors (island)

Mors is a 367,7 square kilometer large island in a shallow sound called Limfjorden in Denmark. The main city on the island is called Nykøbing Mors . Geologically Mors is in a class of its own. Here one can explore the story of the creation of our ”world” 60 million years ago and of the enormous forces of nature which formed the island as we know it today. On Mors, and on Fur , a neighbouring island, we find the only underground deposits of moler in the world.

Jesperhus Flowerpark

The largest flower park in the north, Jesperhus is situated in and by Legind Bjerg, south of Nykøbing. In the park there are more than 1 million colourful flowers, cactus, palm, roses and much more. There is as well butterfly land, aquarium, aviary, terrarium and hatching center.

The Moler Museum

The museum has the largest collection of moler fossils in Denmark and tells the exciting story of the geology of the moler, its plant and animal life, of its manufacturing properties and of people and moler. Imprints of birds, fish, plants and insects. The 55 million year old secrets of the crystal stair.
