Moment of Truth is the 5th album by the 1990s Hip-Hop duo Gang Starr. Released 4 years since their last album, Hard to Earn , this could be seen as a comeback, with a newer, updated style to their already established jazz-tinged Hip-Hop, as stated by Guru in the introduction:
"We have certain formulas but we update em (oh right)
with the times and everything y'know
So y'know the rhyme style is elevated
The style of beats is elevated but it's still Guru and Premier"
This album is regarded by many fans as DJ Premier's finest work, and Guru's rhymes as consistently good as its ever been. It tackles some political and social issues, and also contains a couple of boasting tracks. Overshadowed by more mainstream artists, this album has gained enourmous respect in the underground hip-hop community.
