Michael J. "Mike" Murphy, an American politician, is the State Treasurer of Washington. He is a Democrat.

Murphy is a native of Seattle. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Seattle University in 1969 and a Master of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University. The Treasury Department, where Murphy worked for fifteen years as a civil servant, first hired him in 1972. In 1987, he was appointed to serve as the Thurston County. Later that year, he was elected to that office. He was re-elected in 1990 and 1994.

In 1996, Murphy ran for State Treasurer. He won that election, as well as his races for re-election in 2000 and 2004.
