Michael Thomas (born August 24 1967) is a former English footballer who made one appearance for the England national football team. He started his career at Arsenal, first as a defender and later as a midfielder. He memorably scored the goal that clinched the 1989 League Championship for Arsenal against closest rivals Liverpool. He later joined the Anfield club and scored the opening goal in the 1992 FA Cup Final against Sunderland. Injuries blighted his Liverpool career. He later played for Benfica and Wimbledon.
