Michael Monarch

Michael Monarch (b. 1950) is an American guitarist best known for his work with Steppenwolf.

Monarch was born on July 5 1950 in Los Angeles, California. As the original guitarist with Steppenwolf he played on all their hits, including "Born To Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", "Rock Me Baby", and "The Pusher". He also played on Janis Joplin's "The Kozmic Blues" album. He later went on to record for the SwanSong/Atlantic recording group "Detective".

For the last decade Monarch has been writing and producing music as well as performing with Randy Meisner (The Eagles), Denny Laine (Moody Blues & Wings), Spencer Davis & Aynsley Dunbar (Journey), and musicians from Toto (Fergie Frederiksen ), Steppenwolf (Nick StNicholas ), Foreigner (Ron Wikso ), Santana (Alex Ligertwood ), and Lynyrd Skynyrd (Randall Hall ) as the World Classic Rockers (WCR).
