Meru (mythology)

Meru is a sacred mountain in Indic and Persian mythology. It is the „homeplace of the merries”, who are the most sacred and highest gods. Over this there are the Heavens, and under the Hells, near and far around the visible world extends.

Maybe the real Meru is a mountain on the bank of Lake Manasarovar, and nowadays is called Kailas (it's sanscrit name is Mountain Meru or M. Sumeru).
