Merle Boucher

Merle Boucher (b. 1946) is a North Dakota politician. He is from Rolette County, North Dakota.

Boucher attended high school in Rolette and went on to college, he took classes from the State School of Forestry, and transferred to Mayville State University, where graduated with his teaching degree in 1970.

He returned to Rolette and taught at the high school for 20 years. After retiring, he became a rancher. He holds his family's original homestead claim among other land.

He was elected to the state House of Representatives from District 9 in 1990, and took over as House Minority Leader in 1996. He sought and lost the Democratic-NPL nomination for Governor in 2004.
