Medic

Combat medic (or both into Medical corpsman which redirects here)

A medic is a EMT (often called a 91W after 1999 in the United States Army) attached to a military unit. Medics provide first-aid, and frontline trauma care, in the field. In some conflicts medics wear an altered uniform, with prominent Red Cross and white backround. The red crosses signify to enemy soldiers that the medic is an unarmed noncombatant, providing medical care. All medics now carry at least a sidearm for the defense of the patient and themself. According to the Geneva Conventions knowingly firing at a medic wearing this kind of uniform would be a war crime.
