Matt Cooke


Matt Cooke (born September 7, 1978) is a professional ice hockey player.

Cooke plays with the Vancouver Canucks of the national hockey league. He was born in Belleville, Ontario, and has been with the Canucks since 1997, when he was selected 144th overall in the NHL entry draft.

Prior to his selection Cooke played in the Ontario Hockey League, where he collected 168 points in his 174 career games. Cooke played with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League before joining the Vancouver Canucks in 1998.

During the 1998-1999 season Cooke split his playing time between the Syracuse Crunch and the Vancouver Canucks, he played 37 games for the Syracuse Crunch and 30 games for the Vancouver Canucks. The 2003-2004 season saw Matt Cooke's production fall off pace, and he finished with only 23 points as opposed to his total of 42 points the previous season, due to injury.
