Manning, Alberta

Manning is a town in Alberta, Canada. It is known as the "Land of the Mighty Moose".

It is located on Highway #35 approximately 100 kilometres north of Peace River on the Notikewin River . It has a population of about 3500 and is a center for agriculture, forestry and gas production.

Originally started in the last 1940s, it was called Aurora. The town was renamed in honour of Ernest Manning who was the premier of Alberta from 1943 to 1968.

Manning contains three schools (Manning Elementary, Rosary School and Paul Rowe High School). It has a swimming pool, curling rink, hockey arena, ski hill and golf course. There is a post office, hospital, and seven churches.

Surrounding communities include: Deadwood , Hotchkiss , North Star and Notikewin .
