Glazer was born in Rochester, New York and now lives in Palm Beach, Florida. The son of a Lithuanian immigrant, he became head of his family watch parts business in 1943. The business first expanded into property, buying several trailer parks. He is married and has six sons, three of them are vice-presidents in First Allied.

In the sporting world, Glazer is the current owner of the US National Football League team Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He purchased the Bucanneers franchise in 1995 for $192 million. In 2004 he was in talks with English Football team Manchester United regarding a buy-out – a move unwelcomed by many fans and leading to pitch invasions and protests.
