Magnolia Audio Video is a specialty consumer electronics retailer based in Washington state. It currently operates 20 stores throughout Washington state, Oregon, and California. It also operates 18 smaller Magnolia Home Theater stores, which are located within certain Best Buy stores.
History
In 1954, Len Tweten began the enterprise that was to become Magnolia Audio Video. Originally called "Magnolia Stationers and Camera Shop," the business got its name from the Magnolia district of Seattle, Washington, where the first store was located.
As the years passed, Len's love of music and his enthusiasm for the new field of high fidelity audio grew. By the mid-1960s, the transition to audio specialty business was complete.
Purchase by Best Buy
In December 2000, Magnolia Audio Video was acquired by Best Buy as an independently-operated, wholly-owned subsidiary. Magnolia currently operates 18 small-scale Magnolia Home Theater stores within Best Buy locations that offer a scaled-down variety of products and services while retaining Magnolia's dedication to quality and service.
In Summer 2003, the company changed its name from Magnolia Hi-Fi to Magnolia Audio Video, in order to reflect the new era of electronic entertainment.
Customer Service
Since the beginning, Magnolia has held a strong dedication to providing its customers with the best experience possible. In Len Tweten's words, "The essential reason for our success is the reputation we have worked hard to earn: We offer the public high quality products at fair prices, and we back those products with a near-fanatical dedication to complete customer satisfaction. We treat our customers the way we ourselves would like to be treated."
The company's stores are designed for consumer comfort, with products displayed in a way that makes it easy to compare features and performance.
Awards and Recognition
Magnolia Audio Video holds the distinction of being the most award-winning electronic entertainment retailer in the industry. Magnolia has won Audio/Video International Magazine 's "Retailer of the Year" award for 22 consecutive years. This AVI Award is the consumer electronics industry's equivalent to the Oscar, and no other dealer has won the award as many times. In addition, Magnolia Audio Video is the recipient of TV Guide's "Hall of Fame" award and Dealerscope Merchandising Magazine's "Pride Award."
