Longitude of the periapsis

In astrodynamics, the longitude of the periapsis (symbolized \bar{\omega}\,) of an orbiting body is the longitude (measured from the point of the vernal equinox) of periapsis (closest approach to the central body).

Calculation from state vectors

\bar{\omega}\, can be calculated from longitude of ascending node (\Omega\,) and argument of periapsis \omega\,:

\bar{\omega}=\Omega+\omega\,

which are derived from orbital state vectors.
