Lindi is both a seaside town (2003 pop. 69,000) and a surrounding region of southeastern Tanzania. The town is located at the mouth of the Lukuledi River , but its port facilities are almost nonexistent.

The Lindi region borders on Pwani , Morogoro, Ruvuma, and Mtwara. Much of the eastern part of the region is in the Selous Game Reserve .
