Leyton and Wanstead is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Crossing the boundaries of the Redbridge and Waltham Forest boroughs in north-east London, the constituency covers Leyton, Wanstead and Leytonstone. It has an electorate of approximately 60,000.
Harry Cohen has been MP for the Leyton area since 1983, representing the Labour Party. The boundaries of the seat were last changed in 1995, bringing in some parts of what had been the Woodford constituency. With a Labour majority of nearly 40% in the 2001 general election, Leyton and Wanstead is one of the safest Labour seats.
