L'Abidjanaise

L'Abidjanaise (Song of Abidjan) is the national anthem of Côte d'Ivoire. It was adopted in 1960 and remains the national anthem, even though the capital city is no longer Abidjan. The words are by Mathieu Ekra, Joachim Bony, and Pierre Marie Coty. Coty also composed the music along with Pierre Michel Pango.

French lyrics

Salut ô terre d'espérance;

English translation

We salute thee, land of hope,
Country of hospitality;
Thy gallant legions
Have restored thy dignity.
Beloved Ivory Coast, thy sons,
Proud builders of thy greatness,
All gathered together for thy glory,
In joy will construct thee.
Proud citizens of the Ivory Coast, the country calls us.
If we have brought back liberty peacefully,
It will be our duty to be an example
Of the hope promised to humanity,
Forging, united in new faith,
The homeland of true brotherhood.
