Kinjite (lit. forbidden hand) are various fouls that a sumo wrestler might commit that will cause him to lose the bout. They are:

• Striking the opponent with a closed fist.
• Pulling hair.
• Eye gouging.
• Choking.
• Attacking the groin area.
• Kicking above the knee.
