Joshua Malik Childress (born June 20, 1983) is an NBA basketball player on the Atlanta Hawks.
Childress was a first round pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, and number six overall. He was drafted as a junior from Stanford University after a near-perfect 26-1 season. The Hawks drafted Childress and his trademark afro in large part due to his creative play and versatility as a Guard/Forward.
During the 2005 season Childress emerged as one of two promising rookie talents for the Hawks, along with Josh Smith, the two showed improved play, minuites, and production. Childress ranked third among rookies in double doubles in the 04-05 season, behind only Emeka Okafor and Dwight Howard.
