Rugby union player. Flanker, born March 25, 1959 in Kelso in the Scottish Borders. "The Great White Shark" or "JJ" as he was affectionately known won 40 caps for Scotland, 1984-91. A member of the British Lions on the tour to Australia in 1989.

Recently he has been involved in coaching the Scotland youth teams and commentating at rugby games on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound programme.
