Father John Bennett Bani (born July 1, 1941) was the president and head of state of Vanuatu from 25 March 1999 until March 24, 2004. He was not re-elected in 2004. He is an Anglican priest from Pentecost Island . He is a member of the Union of Moderate Parties , a conservative, Francophone political party.
