John August

John August is an American screenwriter.

His debut film was 1999’s critically-acclaimed Go, which he also co-produced. Since that time, his credits include Big Fish, Charlie's Angels, Titan A.E., and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

He wrote the screenplay for 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, an adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's book. This current projects include Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and a feature adaptation of Tarzan. He is executive producing a movie version of Jordan Mechner’s videogame Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for Jerry Bruckheimer’s company.

He runs a website aimed at budding screenwriters, johnaugust.com.

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, John earned a degree in journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and an MFA in film from the Peter Stark program at the University of Southern California. He lives in Los Angeles.
