John Roberts (television reporter)

John D. Roberts is a television journalist for CBS, where he has served as Chief White House Correspondent since 1999. He is widely considered a potential future replacement for CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather when Rather steps down from the anchor desk in March 2005.

Roberts was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in Mississauga, and worked for many years in Canadian media before joining CBS in 1995. He was the cohost with Pamela Wallin of Canada AM in the early 1990s, and also worked as a reporter and anchor with Citytv and as a video jockey with MuchMusic. In his Canadian media career, he was known as J.D. Roberts.
