Jürgen Bartsch

Jürgen Bartsch (November 6, 1946April 28, 1976) was a German serial killer who murdered four children and attempted to kill another. Abused as a child by his adoptive mother and a priest, Bartsch began killing as a teenager. He persuaded all of his victims to accompany him into an abandoned air-raid shelter. There he forced them to undress and participate in sex acts. The first four victims were killed and dismembered. The fifth victim escaped since Bartsch had left the shelter for several hours and the boy freed himself from the chains by which he was bound. He was convicted in 1967 for crimes committed in 1962 and 1966. The 2002 film Ein Leben lang kurze Hosen tragen (released in the U.S. in 2004, as The Child I Never Was) depicts Bartsch's life and crimes.
