Interposition

Interposition, in the context of the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions refers to the right of states to protect the liberties of its own citizens. It is often used in conjuction with nullification, which gives states the right to nullify, or invalidate, any federal law which that state had deemed unconstitutional.
