Ialyssos is a city situated 6 km southwest from Rhodes City on the road that follows the island's west coast towards the airport.

Until the mid 1980s it was a small village with a population of around 2,500 people, but during the following years population grew to about 20,000, as Ialyssos became the prime destination for those wishing to leave the growing Rhodes City. The city's population doubles during the summer as there are numerous luxury hotels situated in Ialyssos.
