Hollins University is a four-year institution of higher education in Roanoke County, southwestern Virginia. Founded in 1842 as Valley Union Seminary, it as has since evolved into a full university with over 1000 enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. All undergraduate programs are female-only, while men are welcome in the graduate level programs. Known for its writing program, Hollins has turned out more Pulitzer Prize-winning authors per capita than any other school in the nation.
