Hatfield College

Hatfield College is a college of the University of Durham in England. Founded in 1846 by the Rev Thomas Melville , it is the second oldest of Durham's colleges, and was originally called Bishop's Hatfield Hall. It is named after Thomas Hatfield , Prince-Bishop of Durham from 1345 to 1381.

The college is located on North Bailey between Durham Cathedral and the River Wear. Hatfield College is particularly renowned for its strong "Hatfield Spirit" of college unity, and has an intense and famous rivalry with nearby University College.

The Master is currently seconded to the post of Dean of Colleges and Support Services. During this period the Vice Master Angel Scott is the Acting Master.
