Hakan Sükür


Hakan Şükür, born on 1 September 1971 in Adapazari, (Sakarya), Turkey, is a Turkish footballer, who has scored 46 goals in 97 games for the Turkey national football team.

He currently plays for the Turkish club Galatasaray, having spent eight seasons there in the 1990s. In 2000 he moved to Inter Milan, and spent short spells at Parma and Blackburn Rovers before rejoining Galatasaray in 2003.

In the third-place game of the 2002 World Cup against South Korea, Hakan scored the fastest goal ever in a World Cup finals match. He pounced on a Korean blunder immediately off the opening kickoff, and put the ball into the Korean net only 11 seconds after kickoff.

He is also known as a pious Muslim, a devout follower of Turkish religious figure Fethullah Gulen.
