HOK Sport is an architectural firm which specialises in sports facilities.
In the United States it has designed many baseball grounds. Almost all its baseball stadiums share certain core features:
- Green seats
- Red brick
- Special event occours when someone hits a homerun (for example, fountains splash, volcanos go off, a train runs)
- If the stadium is next to a visible metropolis, a hole or other architectural feature is cut to allow a view of the skyline of that metropolis
- Seating is broken up into many different "Seating neighborhoods" to avoid monolithic seating
- It is still possible to watch the game from the food stands
- There are usually special playgrounds for children
Stadiums HOK has designed include:
Critics have disparaged the similarity of all the designs, calling them "stadium chainstores". HOK responds that this is often due to the clients requesting what they liked about other stadiums. The most influential of these would be Coors Field.
