Guerilla gig

Guerilla gigging is a technique that became popular with punk rock and indie rock bands in Britain during the early 2000s. It is similar in concept to a flash mob. Typically a guerilla gig will be arranged very quickly, often in places not designed to accomodate live music, and will be announced through various website message boards as well as text messages. To a certain extent it is an example of punk rocks Do It Yourself philosophy being applied to the technology of the new millenium.

Bands famous for guerilla gigging include The Libertines and The Others.
