Gravitational field

The gravitational field is a field that causes bodies with mass to attract each other. If a small test particle of mass m is placed in a gravitational field, it experiences a force F. The gravitational field, g, is then defined as:

\mathbf g = \frac{\mathbf F}{m}

The field has units of force divided by mass; in SI, this is N \cdot kg^{-1}.
