Grand Bend, Ontario

Located on the shores of Lake Huron, Grand Bend is part of the municipality of Lambton Shores in the county of Lambton. It is a very popular tourist destination, especially in the summer. The Pinery Provincial Park is located here.

The town was named for a 'bend' made by the Ausable River as it came into town; the proximity of the river, however, caused concerns about flooding, and an artificial channel was made to drain the river more directly into Lake Huron. Thus, the town's namesake no longer exits.

Oakwood Park, a wealthy gated community, is connected to Grand Bend. Many rich families from Toronto and London, Ontario frequent Oakwood Park but also spend time in Grand Bend.
