Acrab

(Redirected from Grafias)

Acrab (also known as El Acrab or Graffias) is the proper name name of the star β Scorpii in the constellation of Scorpio. Acrab is actually a binary star. Both components of the system are hot B-class stars at least 10 times the mass of our own Sun, and will both have a short lifetime. In fact, both are expected to end their lives in a massive supernova. Acrab can be separated into its individual components by use of a small telescope. Acrab can be eclipsed by the moon and, very rarely, by planets. The last occultation of Akrab by a planet took place on 13 May 1971, by Jupiter.
