GoldenEye: Rogue Agent

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was the first Bond game in which the player does not take on the role of James Bond, but rather an aspiring 00-agent recruited by Auric Goldfinger, the villain in the movie Goldfinger. Several characters from the Bond series make appearances throughout the game, including Francisco Scaramanga who is once again played by Christopher Lee. Judi Dench also reprises her role as M.

Rogue Agent was an attempt to recreate the success of one of the best-selling Bond games in recent history, GoldenEye 007, which was a first-person shooter for the Nintendo 64, based on the film GoldenEye. Aside from the character Xenia Onatopp, the film GoldenEye actually has nothing to do with Rogue Agent, nor does the GoldenEye 007 video game, despite numerous claims by the media stating it is a 'follow up' to the N64 title.

Rogue Agent was preceded by the highly successul Bond game Everything or Nothing which featured the likeness and voice talents of Pierce Brosnan and Willem Dafoe. Rogue Agent does feature James Bond, briefly, but the portrayal doesn't include Brosnan's look or voice.
