Goedereede

Goedereede (population: 11,544 in 2004) is a town in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of 153.85 km² (of which 82.53 km² water). It consists of the west part of the island of Goeree-Overflakkee.


The municipality of Goedereede also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Havenhoofd, Oostdijk, Ouddorp, Stellendam.

The Brouwersdam is a dam, part of the Delta Works, from Goedereede to Schouwen-Duiveland, in Zeeland.

The Haringvlietdam is a dam, also part of the Delta Works, from Goedereede to the border of Westvoorne and Hellevoetsluis on the island of Voorne-Putten.

Goedereede received city rights in 1312.
