Gjogv is a charming little village located on the north-east tip of the island Eysturoy. The place is popular because of its natural beauty.

‘Gjogv’ is the faroese word for ‘ravine’. The place is called so because of the natural harbour in a ravine next to the village. The fishing-boats sail into the bottom of the ravine. From there they are dragged on a ramp from the bottom of the ravine up and away from the surf.

The church in Gjogv is from 1929 and the old school is from 1884.
