Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate (born September 3, 1970 in Watford) is an English football defender, who currently plays for Middlesbrough in the English Premiership

Prior to joining Middlesbrough, Southgate played for Crystal Palace (1989-95) and Aston Villa (1995-2001). He was capped 57 times for the English national side. Southgate gained notoriety during the 1996 European Championship in England, where he failed to score from the penalty spot in a shootout against Germany.
