GameSurge is a popular Internet Relay Chat network devoted to the Internet gaming community. This is for multi-player games played over the Internet, including MMORPGs (Massively Multi-play Online RolePlaying Games) such as EverQuest.

Originally known as GamesNET before merging with the ProGamePlayer Network to form GameSurge. The merge was due to a legal dispute over the domain name gamesnet.net and common interests between the two networks.

It runs a package of services known as srvx, which were written by GameSurge's development staff from scratch in C.

srvx includes three user-accessible services:

  • NickServ, which is also known as AuthServ as the GameSurge policy forbids users to "own" a specific nick, and provides authentication for the other services.
  • ChanServ, which provides facilities such as event logging and advanced user/ban management.
