Frank Porter Graham

Frank Porter Graham (14 October 1886 - 16 February 1972) was a Democratic U.S. Senator from the state of North Carolina between 1949 and 1950.

Graham served as president of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1930 to 1949; the students' union building at the university is named in his honor. The Graham Memorial Building, on campus and adjacent to Franklin Street , is also named in his honor. It boasts a lounge, a coffee shop, a multimedia lab, several classroom facilities, and the honors advising program.
