Francisco de Paula Rodrigues Alves

Francisco de Paula Rodrigues Alves (July 7, 1848 - January 16, 1919) Brazilian politician. President of São Paulo province in 1887. Economy minister in the 1890s, Rodrigues Alves was elected president of Brazil in 1902 and served until the finish of his term, in 1906. Remodeled the Brazilian capital (until 1960) Rio de Janeiro. Elected president again in 1918 but did not take oath due to illness (Spanish influenza) and was succeded by the vice-president Delfim Moreira.
