Formosa, Argentina

Formosa is the capital city of Formosa Department, Formosa Province, Argentina. It is traditionally inhabited by Tobas and Matacos Indians. Created in April 1879, by the Comandante Luis Jorge Fontana , Formosa had been the capital of the Territorio Nacional del Chaco from 1884 to June 15, 1955.

Notable sites include Iglesia Catedral, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the Isla de Oro (Golden Island), the Parque botánico forestal, the Provincial History Museum (Museo Histórico Provincial), a fauna reserve (Guaicole), and a football stadium, the Estadio Centenario (Centenary Stadium), the new coastal next to the river Paraguay, Centra Square, General José de San Martín, Primary school Nº1, General José de San Martín.
