Flash memory is a form of computer memory which allows multiple locations to be modified in a single programming operation.
Flashing sometimes refers to the process of writing to or updating flash memories such as the BIOS found on computermotherboards or the rewritable cartridges used by developers of software for video game consoles.
Flashing can refer to indecent exposure (i.e. to "flash" one's nude body in public at another unsuspecting person). The Mardi Gras festival is famous for flashing, which is often used to collect "throws" by attracting attention. See also:streaking.
Flashing can refer to the weatherproofing shielding put around objects which protrude from the roof of a building (such as pipes and chimneys, or the edges of other roofs) to deflect water away from the seams. Its name likely derives from the fact that metal flashing (typically copper or aluminum) reflects flashes of sunlight. Modern flashing may also be rubber or other waterproof synthetic materials, but metal is still frequently used.
Flashing - A term used in retail, meaning to get rid of gaps on shelves, products are brought from the back of the shelf to the front to create a 'fuller' shelf.
