Fenerbahçe is a Turkish football club from İstanbul. Its colours are yellow and navy. It plays on its Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadyumu that has a seating capacity of 42,500 that will expand to 52,000 in few years.
History
Fenerbahçe was founded in 1907 in the district of Kadikoy in Istanbul. The founders were Nurizade Ziya Songülen (the first president), Osmanli Bank employee Mr. Ayetullah and Naval School student Necip Okaner, together with Hasan Sami Kocameme and Asaf Baspinar known as "Hintli". They met at the Besbiyik Street in Moda, in the basement of house number 3.
Fenerbahçe's activities had to be conducted in secrecy until a change of Ottoman legislation in 1908, after which the club was officially registered.
The first football team joined the Istanbul League in 1909. The new team of the 1912-1913 season won the championship for the first time, and without a single defeat at that.
