Federación Anarquista Ibérica

The Federación Anarquista Ibérica (Iberian Anarchist Federation) was an organisation of Anarchist militants active within the CNT. It was founded in 1927 to help keep the CNT true to its anarchist aims and ideals by challenging the bureaucracy of CNT which had grew to become a mediating link between labour and capital rather than a representative of the working class. Members of the FAI were at the forefront of the fight against Franco's forces during the Spanish Civil War. It is often abbrieviated as CNT-FAI because of the close relationship between the two organisations.

The "Iberian" part alludes to the purpose of unifying Spanish and Portuguese anarchism in a Pan-Iberian organization.
