Dr. Fathy Arafat (-2004). The younger brother of Yasser Arafat. Graduated from the Cairo University Faculty of Medicine and helped his brother in dealing with the Humanitarian aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Founded the Palestinian Red Crescent in 1968, and became the president till 2001 were he resigned to the status of Honarary President. He established a number of hospitals and clinics in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, West bank and Gaza. He helped in shaping the Palestinian Ministry of Health, with graduates from his network of health care facilities.
He lived in Cairo with his Egyptian wife and two children. He died in December 2004 from cancer in Palestine Hospital in Cairo. He is burried next to his brother in Ramallah.
