Fantoft stave church

Fantoft stave church is a stave church in Fana, Bergen. It was originally built in Fortun , a village deep inside the Sogne fjord around year 1150. In the 19th century this church was threaten by demolition as was hundreds of other stave churchs in Norway. The church was saved by moving it in pieces to Fantoft in Bergen in 1883. In 1994 the church was totally destroyed in a fire started by Varg Vikernes. Reconstruction of an exact copy of the church was initiated, and finally completed in 1997.
