A face fault is an anime-specific property of cartoon physics, usually limited to comedy anime. It can mean any over-exaggerated expression that breaks the normal character design or gesture of shock or surprise. Common ones include giant sweatdrops and pulsating crossed forehead veins. If a character says something exceedingly stupid or inane, those in earshot may collapse to the ground.
